Re: [SOLVED] Absolutely no display from arch

pacman pakages wouldn't install an AUR package as a dependency.

Can you please post your output of

 pacman -Qm

Okay so update: I solved the issue. The steps I took were: install mesa with

sudo pacman -S mesa

Removed mesa-git
Then I updated. Worked like a charm, my system is back up and running!

Re: [SOLVED] Absolutely no display from arch

If you are a beginner and want to use Arch, you must be willing to invest time into learning a new system, and accept that Arch is designed as a 'do-it-yourself' distribution; it is the user who assembles the system.

Before asking for help, do your own independent research by searching the Web, the forum and the superb documentation provided by the Arch Wiki. There is a reason these resources were made available to you in the first place. Many thousands of volunteered hours have been spent compiling this excellent information.

I've ran this installation for 4 months and this was my first big issue with it. Now how do i mark this post as "Solved"?

Are you using a pacman wrapper like yay ?

A lot of Arch newcomers use yay because they see tutorials online suggesting it, but personally I do not recommend it unless you know what its doing and even then why bother? There are plenty of cases where people will use yay and install replacements for core system programs like mesa, systemd, python, etc and then get into a world of pain.

Personally I've never had an issue like that simply from using something like auracle instead that allows me to check for AUR updates, but anything I want to install I have to do so using makepkg, then for each AUR package you use you know exactly what PKGBUILD is doing which is what is recommended in the wiki.
Generally speaking, if you're installing something from the AUR that is already in core or extra, and you don't know why, then don't.

Re: [SOLVED] Absolutely no display from arch

I have yay installed but i haven't used it in like 2 months. Ill probably remove it and focus on getting work done and not mess around with my perfectly fine operating system. I've got everything i need for work/school already installed. And everything works like a charm. Better than windows. Thank you for the tip!
