I still have wallpaper icon on the desktop,but can't set it as wallpaper from right clck menu. It happened after one of the lateest updates.

Are you running the X11 or wayland version of Xfce, and if wayland which compositor?
In the desktop settings, there is an option to "Apply to all workspaces". Try toggling that to see if it helps. (There is an existing migration issue with that setting and toggling it resets it).
Otherwise, debug output from xfdesktop may help identify the issue:
xfdesktop -Q && xfdesktop -e

No Wayland or composers. Just plain XFCE4.
This is obviously an upstream problem, since everything worked before.
Why not perform minimal update testing before throwing it to mass usage?

The last read xfdesktop update was mid-december.
That being said, there're some recent wallpaper-related bugs reported, https://gitlab.xfce.org/xfce/xfdesktop/ … ge_size=20
Do you get the same behavior w/ a fresh user account?
Can you still set the wallpaper via xfconf-query https://unix.stackexchange.com/question … m-terminal or does "xfdesktop --reload" help?
