UEFI/BIOS resp. GPT/MBR conversion issue.

Which section is for dealing with issues e.g. Windows 11 and Arch Linux as dual boot ? I have to ask a question related to it .

Newbie Corner

Make sure your question is specifically for the Arch Linux portion of the dual boot. We do not support Windows questions.

Re: UEFI/BIOS resp. GPT/MBR conversion issue.

The issue is weird and complex , windows 11 converts the drive into GPT and Arch Linux boots from MBR so after windows installation arch Linux and other ext4 partitions were unreadable and arch Linux failed to boot . Had to format windows , convert back arch Linux and all other partitions back to MBR and then arch Linux started booting normally ( it was a very complex and lengthy path doing/reverting back things , had to clone copy my arch Linux onto another disk and then doing all these steps and restoring cloned partition of arch Linux) .
So just wondering if anyone else faced similar issue and is there any fix for it ?

Move linux to GPT?

edit: I requested moving to NC so you don't have to open a new issue.

Why I run Arch? To "BTW I run Arch" the guy one grade younger.
And to let my siblings and cousins laugh at Arsch Linux...

Re: UEFI/BIOS resp. GPT/MBR conversion issue.

The fix for it is to keep the drive in GPT mode and setup a proper UEFI bootloader/mode on Arch Linux. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/GPT_fd … BR_and_GPT

Moving to NC... Please adjust your title so it reflects that you're dealing with an UEFI/BIOS resp. GPT/MBR conversion issue.

Re: UEFI/BIOS resp. GPT/MBR conversion issue.

The only thing that bothers me is I don`t want to convert my Arch Linux to GPT from MBR , its hard for me to learn new things , I never installed linux on eufi , never liked it , this will be a total new learning for me , my laptop is  legacy mode run system .
