You are not logged in.
EDIT: Realized I forgot to say what laptop I'm using ; I'm running an ASUS Zephyrus G14 2023!
I typically run my Xorg on TTY6 and work on a tty on TTY1. This is because it's convenient for me to use C-M-F1 and M-(left arrow) to switch back and forth.
However, whenever I suspend -- either by closing the lid, or invoking
systemctl suspend
I end up with a black console between TTY1 and TTY6, which is confirmed to be TTY7 by hitting C-M-F7.
This happens even when Xorg is not running.
It's also good to note that hitting C-M-F7 (but only while Xorg is running) creates this console, and, irritatingly, causes it to persist.
The main reason this is a problem is that this TTY7 is not logged in, so doing M-(left arrow) to get back to TTY6 from TTY1 after an unsuspend results in everything delegated by `logind` to lost its perms -- so my audio cuts out, my Bluetooth headphones disconnect, and everything else of the sort, even if I'm only on TTY7 for a brief moment. This is rather irritating, and the main solution is to end the Xorg session and start a new one. This is true even when there is no Xorg running, meaning I have to start a new Xorg session, then terminate it, to remove the extra console.
This is certainly not the worst solution, but it does mean I have to terminate everything I'm doing on Xorg and then restart it all, which isn't convenient. I was hoping anyone knew of a solution, but I wasn't able to find anything with a previous search; most issues talk about X completely dying on unsuspend, which is NOT the issue I'm having. I'm able to unsuspend just fine, save this issue.
I seem to remember not having this issue while running an LTS kernel, but I'm not presently in a position where I can go back and test that, and that may just be my memory messing with me.
I'm not actually sure if this is an issue with my laptop or with my config, so I'm going to start by assuming it's a laptop issue, which is why I've posted here. If it turns out this is a config issue, then I would obviously not object in the slightest to having it moved.
