Any advise on particular models etc. I'm leaning toward Logitech.:)

Well, not really suggesting on what to buy, but more of information. In my experience wireless mouse and keyboards have random quarks to them. For example, wireless mouses tend to jump randomly from time to time.

i got me a adesso wkb-4000us
works really good ive had it bout 2 months
the only issue is when it sets for a while you have to tap a few keys to get mouse active
it has great range i can be on the other side of the house and it still works through the walls
i had another one that crapped out in 2weeks time belkin f8e838

I'd go with Bluetooth instead of RF. In my experience, RF peripherals tend to act up badly (my RF keyboard and mouse press random buttons, very inconvenient) when the batteries are low or they're at the far end of their range (which is probably shorter than you think).
But then, I've never tried Bluetooth kb/mouse, so they might have some of the same problems.

I have a logitech MX 700 Duo, I've had it now for about two years and absolutely love this combo. I look around in stores every once in a while at the mice keyboards available now and in my opinon things haven't gotten better at all and in some ways have gotten much worse. I will keep this combo for as long as I can, after which I'm kinda screwed. Logitech makes some good wireless devices though and so thats what I would recommend, kind of expensive though, maybe you can find something on newegg at a good price.

I have a Logitech MX1000 and a Gyration mouse. Both are excellent. The Logitech works as well as any wired mouse (meaning it's not a liability even in Sauerbraten instagib matches), and the Gyration, while a little tricky to use (because you wave it in the air) is also solid.

I also recommend the MX1000. It is better than most wired and wireless mice.

Wife has the Microsoft Wireless Laser Desktop 6000. Works splendidly. The keyboard is a bit...sloppy feeling. Mouse glides very nicely, I just don't care for the feel of it in my hand.
I have the Logitech Cordless Desktop Comfort Laser. Again, works splendidly. I like the keyboard and mouse feel a lot better than the Microsoft combo but the one negative I'd have to say for it is the pads they use on the bottom of the mouse grab a little too much and it doesn't "glide" as effortlessly as the MS mouse.
They're both "sets" as opposed to purchasing mouse and keyboard separately and both have the natural keyboards. I'd pick the logitech combo over the MS if I were purchasing another set.

I bought the Logitech MX3200 keeping my fingers crossed.

I set up the keyboard and mouse. The mouse works perfectly even the extra keys and the tilt function on the mouse. I can't get the keyboard to work any suggestions:(
