Kernel Panic [RESOLVED]

I ran into a problem with vmware after a kernel upgrade so I deceided to downgrade the kernel.

I did pacman -Rd kernel26 && pacman -Rd kernel-headers
then
pacman -A /var/cache/pacman/pkg/{OLDER_KERNEL}
pacman -A /var/cache/pacman/pkg/{OLDER_KERNEL_HEADERS}

After those changes I get a kernel panic when I reboot.  The start of problem booting begins with:

"Failed to parse block device name for "/dev/sda1""

Figuring I did something wrong I booted with the livecd and chrooted to the root drive and did a pacman -Su that upgraded the kernel and headers back to the current versions.

I still get the same errors and a kernel panic when re-booting.

My menu.lst has not changed from when I was able to boot.  I am at a loss for what is causing the problems.  Any ideas?

Re: Kernel Panic [RESOLVED]

ok changed menu.lst to:

initrd /boot/kernel26-fallback.img

And I was able to boot; although I still am not sure why the original kernel26.img does not work.

Re: Kernel Panic [RESOLVED]

I have the same problem since some recent updates : Arch will boot using

initrd /boot/kernel26-fallback.img

but no longer with

initrd /boot/kernel26.img

Can you please tell me what you did to fix your problem ? Thanks a lot !
