[solved] openbox layers

Always when I open ROX-Filer, it gets automatically put on the background layer, so I cannot access it without minimizing all the other windows, or changing the layer manually.  This becomes especially annoying with error messages, where I might not even notice that they are there.  How do you make it so that ROX will always keep its stuff in the 'normal' layer?

Re: [solved] openbox layers

You can put something along the lines of

  <application class="rox">
    <layer>normal</layer>
  </application>

in the applications-section of your rc.xml. You need to find the actual classname out on your own since I don't have rox installed to check it. IIRC you can also match by window name.

To discover the class of a window, run xprop in a terminal and click on any window. The class will be in the gobs of output you get.
