configuration of loudness of system sounds with pipewire

I used pulseaudio for many years, then switched to jack2 that i used for many years. Sometime last year i switched to pipewire + wireplumber. This last switch was very easy, nearly everything worked perfectly out of the box, without any special configuration. Neither ~/.config/pipewire nor ~/.config/wireplumber exist in my PC.

Sometimes i need to adjust the playback volume of an app. For that i use pavucontrol, which works well for that purpose, however it does not work for setting the volume of the system sounds. Currently, beeps generated by some apps, for example, whatsapp web, are far too loud, and the setting of system sounds in pavucontrol seems to have no effect (unlike when I used pulseaudio).

Does anybody know how to fix this, preferably without resorting to lots of manual configuration?
