[SOLVED] Help with installation: no ethernet network

Hello:

Although I used arch linux for a few years, I shifted to other distros and, coming back to installing arch linux today, I'm having newbie problems :-(

My new laptop has an ethernet controller and a wirless one. I can't get an internet connection with neither. This post is for the ethernet card

- the ethernet card is supported by

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/tuxe … 1-dkms-git

but: _can I install an AUR package without a working internet connection?_

Regards

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Tethering

Otherwise, yes: you can install packages offline but you'll somehow have to shove the sources onto the system (or compile the package elsewhere and move that around) - ie. you'll not to cover the air gap with a usb key and some sneakers.

Re: [SOLVED] Help with installation: no ethernet network

Thanks a lot, seth: tethering really seemed like a good option, and there was an android phone in the house (it will hopefully have e/os soon).
It turns out that in order to makepkg the tuxedo package, I had to install quite a few dependencies, and the live arch system run out of space.
I guess I can install to disk without internet, and then, on the new computer with a lot of space, make the package and install it to have internet, but I was really hoping to use archinstall, because the drive must be an encrypted, and I have already spent a lot of time, and an encrypted installation with no internet does not seem straightforward... I'll switch to the other forum topic to see if I'm more lucky there.

Re: [SOLVED] Help with installation: no ethernet network

Am I silly or what?

archinstall works now with tethering!

And then I will have space for making the package and everything.

Solved then, Seth
