HI
When I install updates to my Archlinux Cinnamon, I notice that some applications overrides what I have set as my Preferred Applications in the System Settings
without telling me or asking for my persision ![]()
This is very annoying as I - until now - have to manually reset my Preferred Applications every time I update
I have searched for a solution, but not found one. I have also searched the linux mint forum but not found a solution
A solution would either prevent applications for overwriting my choices / or at the very least force the application to ask me if I want that
Alternatively there must be a place in cinnamon, where ALL my Preferred Applications are stored - so if I can write to that place,
I can write a script to automatically check every time I update
I do not know if this is a problem only in Cinnamon ?
Kind regards from Denmark ![]()

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Default_applications - I guess xdg-open will be relevant to you.

Hi Set
Thank you very much !!!
That solved my problem ![]()
Cinnamon keeps a list here: .config/mimeapps.list
that contains both the default mimes and the added
My "culprit" was gpicview, which had taken over almost all image types
Thank you very much !

Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.
You might have to shorten your original title for that.
