[SOLVED] Upgrade error: gnome-mimeapps.list exists in filesystem

While trying to upgrade my system with `pacman -Syu`, I am getting the following error

error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
gnome-mimeapps: /usr/share/applications/gnome-mimeapps.list exists in filesystem (owned by shared-mime-info-gnome)
Errors occurred, no packages were upgraded.

I would appreciate some guidance on how to fix this. Thanks!

What is 'shared-mime-info-gnome', and do you need it?

Mod note: moving to AUR Issues.

Ah... I think I used that to specify a default app for firefox. Hence, if I still need it, is there a way to solve this conflict?

https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/shar … info-gnome
Note that there is no upstream and it hasn't been updated since 2021 .

If you feel the mimeapps.list it installed is useful, copy it to one of the locations that are meant for overriding those settings .
See https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/XDG_MI … eapps.list

Once the file has been copied, remove shared-mime-info-gnome and update your system.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky
