[SOLVED] Can't Aim Freely in TFOC/TWFC Wine – Limited Mouse Movement.

Hello, I hope that you are doing well.
I recently downloaded both the Cybertron games and wanted to play them through wine, but when I ran them, I noticed that my mouse movement was limited, no matter how much I move the camera, it was restricted to a certain limit. It did change when there were cutscenes but not through my will.

I tried to remove and create a new wineprefix, failed. I had also tried running TWFC on windows and I noticed it wanted me to get a xinput1_3.dll in order to launch the game, so I copied the file into my wine prefix and it fixed/workaround the issue in wine 10.4 but it doesn't anymore in 10.5. I also found out that these games actually use rawinput to manage the mouse input? Then why did changing the file fix the issue or why did windows require the xinput file?

I have installed wine from the official pacman repo and the version is 10.5. I also use dxvk-sarek-10.8-async, without it, I don't think the game would be playable.

Turns out that the version of wine I was using was not the right version, the development version is only for developers and the wine-staging or wine-stable version should be used for gaming etc.
Switching to the wine-staging version fixed the issue.

wine-staging is built on regular wine (both have the same version number) and adds experimental stuff (mostly specific game related) that is not considered ready / reliable enough to integrate with regular wine yet.

When trying to run wine applications , start with wine , then wine-staging , wine-stable and last older wine versions in that order.

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky
