Hello,
I recently helped a friend installing Arch, but we weren't able to make his monitors work when plugged into his RTX 4060 Ti.
He was previously using another distro where he had the same issue but with an older nvidia driver, which is why we decided to try Arch since newer drivers were available.
We tried to figure this out ourselves, but weren't able to. Based on the logs (in particular the error `Failed to allocate NvKmsKapiDevice`) I'm currently guessing it's a driver issue and there is probably nothing we can do about it.
Since I have no experience with GPUs or kernel drivers, but also couldn't find anyone else having the same issue (without an updated driver fixing it), I want to ask about it here before we figure out the next steps.
We tried both `nvidia-lts` (which is the right package for this GPU according to the wiki) and `nvidia-open-lts` drivers but the issue (and the logs) remain the same.
So far we have done/tried the following things:
Removed `kms` from the `HOOKS` array in `/etc/mkinitcpio.conf` (as suggested here)
Used the `rcutree.gp_init_delay=1` kernel parameter and added the nvidia modules (`nvidia nvidia_modeset nvidia_uvm nvidia_drm`) directly to `/etc/mkinitcpio.conf` (as suggested here, even though we are using Wayland not X11)
Temporarily blacklisted the modules `i915 intel_agp viafb radeon amdgpu` (as suggested here) which only caused the monitor plugged into the integrated GPU to stop working as well, since the `amdgpu` driver was included in that list.
We observed `journalctl` while plugging the monitors into the GPU, but saw no new log entries which feels odd.
Filtering the journal for "nvidia" always produces the following messages:
kernel: nvidia: loading out-of-tree module taints kernel.
kernel: nvidia: module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel.

With X11 I'd include `/var/log/Xorg.log` as well, but I'm not sure if there is an equivalent for Wayland.
Regardless I think the log snippet above already captures the issue, but if there are any other logs that might help please let me know.
Is there any way we could fix this issue ourselves? Or did I come to the right conclusion and this is a driver issue, which means we can't do anything about it aside from contacting Nvidia?

Try to disable rebar (resizable BARs, BIOS setting), make sure you used the PEG slot and ultimately to disable the https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/NVIDIA … P_firmware and just a hunch but maybe add "nvidia_drm.modeset=1" to the https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel_parameters (it has to be there as that will implicitly block the simpledrm device what would be the main objective. The modprobe config will /not/ achieve that)
If nothing helps, please post your complete system journal for the boot:
sudo journalctl -b | curl -F 'file=@-' 0x0.st
X11 or wayland won't matter here - the kernel module fails.

So I guess rebar support is just broken in the nvidia linux driver?

rebar is principally supported, try to add "pci=realloc" to the https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel_parameters
