Has anyone experienced this: Changing brightness in X changes the brightness "internally", but the new brightness is applied only after switching to console (Ctrl+Alt+Fx) and back to X.
Changing brightness in a console works.

Yes, this is a well known bug and it is present since version 8.28.8 or something of the proprietary driver.
