Arch Linux: Freezing, have to hard power down?

Hey,

Recently I've had two issues.
1. Internet randomly disconnects, likely a firmware issue.
2 Arch Linux completely freezes (the issue I'm writing about)

I'm mentioning issue 1 because issue 2 seems related to it (issue 2 caused by NetworkManager).

I've attached my journal logs from the last 10 minutes after booting back up
https://gist.githubusercontent.com/ashd … tfile1.txt

The crash happened at 13:01:01 as that's when my time stopped updating.
My WiFi is Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210, if that helps.

Thanks for any help you can provide smile

I see that you're using the "linux-lts" package, do you also get the same issue with the "linux" package?

Also, how frequent does this occur?

Re: Arch Linux: Freezing, have to hard power down?

I moved to the lts to see if it helped but it didn't.
Crashes happen almost daily sad 5 - 10 times in the last week
I'm idle a lot and only notice when resuming workload
Same with wifi dropping, ethernet seeems stable
but I had to switch to wifi due to house changes 2 weeks ago...
I didn't have any crashes prior to about 2 weeks ago
Thanks smile

Re: Arch Linux: Freezing, have to hard power down?

Could you check whether the error is also present in the latest linux-mainline release?

sudo pacman -U https://pkgbuild.com/\~gromit/linux-bisection-kernels/linux-mainline-6.15rc4-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.zst

(note that this installs the kernel as linux-mainline, so you need to configure your bootloader to boot it (for example via grub-mkconfig -o ... or by writing the systemd-boot loader entry))

Thanks. I'm now testing with 6.15.0-rc4-1-mainline and will let you know smile

Re: Arch Linux: Freezing, have to hard power down?

The actual processing of the machine seems good now on this kernel big_smile
Bad news is 20 mins in and it crashed on the network so I think the issue is still apparent on the mainline for that at least sad

Updating BIOS worth a shot. Current BIOS version is 0705 from 10/05/2022. Asus released 26 BIOS updates for your mobo over the last 2 years.
