Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

I hope this is not considered crossposting, but I made a new PKGBUILD for qtractor 0.1.3 just in case anyone is interested:

http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=389754

I have included a patch that allows qtractor to compile with GCC 4.3.

It sort of is, at least for my laptop. I tend to turn the nic and all usb crap off when doing audio.

Nice, but did you try the package from google code? That should work too.

Oh yeah ardour's patch needs updating for lv2. God knows why mantis shows no signs of an "updated" patch. All patches I've found thus far are different and none of them are complete. Anyway try it now, I've uploaded an ardour PKGBUILD with its lv2 stuff patched. It takes a while to compile so I haven't built it, but good luck wink

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

slv2-svn built for you guys? I crash here:

/bin/grep: /usr/lib/libraptor.la: No such file or directory
/bin/sed: can't read /usr/lib/libraptor.la: No such file or directory
libtool: link: `/usr/lib/libraptor.la' is not a valid libtool archive
make[1]: *** [libslv2.la] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/btartsa/proaudio/slv2-svn/src/lad/slv2/src'
make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1

Things I tried:

Rebuilt raptor to its latest version, made a package for lv2core-snv and installed it,copied /usr/lib/libraptor.a to libraptor.la

Beyond that I dunno /;

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

Take a look: http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Libtool_slaying

We need to hunt down the offending package(s), so keep a look out. I do think it's the custom-compiled stuff that are the cause, though.

Speaking of lv2core, should we name our lv2 as such? If so, what does lv2 "officially" consist of? Just the plugins? If that's the case then, like ladspa, we should provide all of them.

Thanks. :-) I couldn't find an updated package on proaudio's Google Code site and I don't think there's a Google Code site for qtractor. Oh well...it works on my computer and the next release probably will fix the problem anyway, so all's well.

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

Hi, can you post up your/etc/limits.conf?

Also what login manager do you use and have you logged/in out completely?

Whats it do from the command line? Have you experimented with starting it as root?

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

Insure that you have this line in /ets/fstab

none                   /dev/shm      tmpfs     defaults            0      0

If thats proper delete the contents of /dev/shm. Make sure that there is only jack related stuff in there first (as is on my system)
before deleting!

If you are running an SMP machine you may want to switch jackdmp too. Its in the googlecode repo. Have fun!

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

Yes I have:

none                   /dev/shm      tmpfs     defaults            0      0

and I got rid of /dev/shm but still no luck. I saw that people with the same problem on Suse. It seemed to be related to the gnome display manager but I got rid of gnome and installed kdemod. I still have a few more things to try.

Thanks,
Arthur

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

ardour-2.5... having issues... any one build it yet?

libs/surfaces/tranzport/screen.cc: In member function 'int TranzportControlProtocol::screen_flush()':
libs/surfaces/tranzport/screen.cc:87: error: 'memcpy' was not declared in this scope
scons: *** [libs/surfaces/tranzport/screen.os] Error 1
scons: building terminated because of errors.
==> ERROR: Build Failed.
    Aborting...

this is what is posted on mantis:

"believed fixed, by adding an additional #include to the relevant file."

but I don't have a clue on what Paul from Ardour is talking about.
got it to build now but not with a PKGBUILD. Paul answered the issue with 2 soultions and I had to use both. I couldn't patch screen.cc using PKGBUILD.

here is Paul suggestion:

two solutions:

1) scons TRANZPORT=0

2) apply the change shown here:

http://viewcvs.ardour.org/index.cgi/ard … 0-ongoing…

we may release 2.5.1 to fix this, but its not so urgent as to make it a killer reason to do so.

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

schivmeister, did you get LMMS 0.4.0 Alpha to build on arch? I followed your posting at  LinuxMusicians Forum but I get some QT error.

checking for IceConnectionNumber in -lICE... yes
checking for pkg-config... /usr/bin/pkg-config
checking Qt translations... configure: error: *** not found! Either install Qt i18n files or define QT_TRANSLATIONS.

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

funkmuscle, I tried to build ardour 2.5 too and failed. I made a patch for screen.cc but it wont work.

Second thought...maybe if you manually edit screen.cc and do makepkg -e

That should work.

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

btartsa, I'll try that. I did edit it manually but as i ran it with makepkg -i, it changed back so I will try a makepkg -e.

thanx

makepkg -e

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

Edited post just in case...I'm at work so can't test this ):

rm -r src/ pkg/

in PKGBUILD TRANZPORT=0 and (something wrong here too) LV2=0

mkdir src

tar -xvf ardour-2.5.tar.gz (or whatever the sources are called) in src dir

edit src/libs/surfaces/tranzport/screen.cc adding #include<cstring> at line 21

makepkg -e

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

Hmm not building either. But I may be missing something: http://archlinux.pastebin.com/m35d525a9

btartsa: wow now that's comprehensive..learnt some new things now big_smile

funkmuscle: nope installed it on Windows..Try QT_TRANSLATIONS=/usr/share/qt ./configure or /usr/share/qt/translations - I had to do that once when I tried the qt3 unstable version.

I need real, proper pen and paper for this.

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

I got a feeling it maybe scons. Everytime I have an issue with Ardour building, I'll install scons-0.97-1.pkg.tar.gz and it seems to build.
As I'm typing this, Ardour seems to be building fine SO FAR...... as I just installed  scons-0.97-1.pkg.tar.gz.... it's been 10 minutes already. Will keep y'all in the loop with an update.

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

almost an hour later and it failed. I do have ardour-2.5 running but that's after hacking it the way Paul Davis said to. I didn't use a PKGBUILD, I just extracted, edit the screen.cc file manually and ran scons(the latest version) and it builds and is running fine.
