Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

I have not tried to use the patches yet...but I opened the tar file and all the patches are prefixed reiser4 or squashfs.

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

Hmm, that seems a bit odd, I'll probably have some time to look at it after I've gotten some sleep...

Just had a quick look, seems like they are mm patches, kernel26mm is more experimental than the others, and so, reiser4 etc... Don't think you should worry about it, they are most likely just fixes for people using reiser4... Did you create a PKGBUILD?

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

Hi, has anyone tried WineASIO?

wineasio (a compatibility layer for Microsoft Windows audio applications using the low latency ASIO via Jack).

Also an article:

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

Never tried it, but isn't it  just to connect asio/windows apps in linux? afaik, that would be too much hassle, and a little pointless since there are already loads of good audio apps in linux, like ardour, energy-xt, hydrogen, jamin, etc...

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

I thought I'd throw that one out there. I hate win apps but some *have* to use them. Otherwise I think it is ok to test and compare them. The more options the better, choose what is best for your workflow.

Is there a plan to expand the ProAudio Repository?

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

Ok, i tried to create a PKGBUILD last night, but to no avail. I need to read more about it. It did build the kernel, but exited at the end with an error, so I might not be that far away...

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

This is crazy...I'm going to dual boot some other crap and see whats out there. Its a shame because I've been Arch exclusive ( and very happy) since 1994. But, I need something that "just works" at this point.

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

btartsa,
I've tried other distros for audio and this baby is the best so far. Ubuntu's RT Kernel works amazingly but they have issues with alsa and snd_seq.
That's the only other distro that comes close. Gentoo not bad but too many xruns. I get great performance with all the Arch kernels.
We just need some of the other developers to help build an RT kernel for Arch.

I'm working on it and the weekend is close so I can test even more. I will not give up, that is, in my opinion what it's all about;)

john3, I'd  like to see what your PKGBUILD looks like. I bet some team work would help us all out.

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

btartsa, Good news, I will have a package ready this weekend. It's finished, but i need to modify it at bit more because it is conflicting with some other patchsets.

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

Ok, here's the package; http://arch.divint.no/jonn3/arch/kernel … pkg.tar.gz

I take no responsibility for it, it's my first attempt! Personally I got a kernel-panic, but i suspect it has to do with no support for either reiserfs or my harddrive, I think the kernel is pretty personal so if it works, great! but don't expect it to... Now that I know more about this, I will try to create a rt kernel which supports most common hardware.

Berkus, any updates you might have done with your kernel, please contact me so that we can collaborate...

If you get an error please contact me, as I would be interested in this when creating a new package.

Enjoy!

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

btartsa, please send debug if you can. I'd rather not send it because it's not really just to use it straight out, it needs to be cleaned up alot, but if you insist I'll give it to you when get home from work...

Hi,

Has any one tried XJadeo with ardour 2?

xjadeo is a simple video player that is synchronized to jack transport.

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

Should we create a sticky with all these apps?

Anyone got any way with a rt kernel package? I haven't done anything since the last time because I've just had too much to do, but I will hopefully get some time during my vacation next week... Please let me know if any of you are working on something...

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

A Sticky would be great and/or a wiki page which just lists ProAudio Apps. I'd gladly help out.

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

On the Realtime Kernel - would the Viper patchset help? - there is a package in the AUR.

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

dunno if Arch version of viper is patched for real-time.

the gentoo ebuild has the real-time patch, arch doesn't.

arch build:

ftp://ftp.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v … l}.tar.bz2 \

    zd1211.patch \
    acpi-buggy-bios.patch \
    bluetooth-alsa.patch \

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

The realtime patch does appear, to me anyway, to be included in this big whopper of a patch http://vipernicus.org/files/patches/2.6 … viper1.bz2

Then again I could and probably am wrong.....

Re: ProAudio repository for Arch users

I have been at war with the rt kernel. It's strange because if I makepkg -g then cd /src/linux.2.6.20  then patch -Np1 -i ../patch-2.6.20-rt8 the kernel patches and I get a config file. I cp the config to the build dir. Then I delete the /src and /pkg dirs and makepkg -c. Now it goes to hell saying the patches already exist and fails. Ideas? I am using the kernel26mm PKGBUILD as a template.
