Hi, I just recently got archlinux and so far it seems pretty good. But when I got Gnome installed I realized that it was going very very slow. The actual startup of Gnome takes about 2 minutes which I know isn't right. When it does get to the desktop it works pretty good. But if I start an app it takes a long time, even terminal takes about half a minute. When the programs load up they run just fine though. Also nautilus loads up very quickly but everything else doesn't. I am very confused. Please help.

Make sure your loopback device is setup properly and that it's running.

I'm a bit of a noob. Could you explain what you said in easier terms? Also I installed xfce4 and it works fine so I guess its just gnome.

nvm I'm just retarded. I forgot to add myhost to /etc/hosts. Luckily xfce4 kept bugging me about this so I changed it and presto everything works. Arch linux is so ****** fast!!
