[SOLVED] phonon-qt6-mpv default phonon backend in new KDE installation

At the moment this 3rd party package is pulled in instead of the phonon-qt6-vlc package.

It's great there's choice for other options, but phonon-qt6-vlc is officially maintained upstream by KDE and should be installed by default?

There is no concept of default providers on Arch. Pacman will prompt you to choose an option and, if you don't, it will install the first option alphabetically.

Thanks, that makes sense. I heard about it second hand and did a quick archinstall instead of manually to verify. With an automated installation you probably will see phonon-mpv in a lot of places using an automated installer now.

But I also understand that is not in the hand or spirit of Arch to solve.

PS: I see it was also already raised on archinstall: https://github.com/archlinux/archinstall/issues/2188
