Hello! I am a minecraft speedrunner, meaning I primarily play on the game version 1.16.1. I've recently experienced an issue that some others seemed to have shared, but their fix of downgrading the kernel to 6.13 didn't work.
Normally, I launch the game using a tool called waywall with some fabric performance/speedrun mods & a built glfw 3.4 and have garbage allocator jemalloc for ram reasons. It seems that jemalloc randomly isnt working or there is a separate memory issue that jemalloc wouldn't have control over. Because of the already high ram allocation to mc (~10gb) from the use of some speedrun mods and this issue, under strain minecraft has used up to 20gb and has crashed kwin multiple times.
I tried kernel versions 6.14.9, 6.14.6, 6.13.8, and 6.12.9 but none fixed the said issue. I tested minecraft 1.21.4, but there wasn't some insane ram use, making me believe this isn't an issue in newer versions. I am using GraalVM 22 (java-22-graalvm-ee), MALLOC_CONF background_thread:true,narenas:2,dirty_decay_ms:10000,muzzy_decay_ms:10000, and G1GC. This issue seemed to happen randomly without system updating, but since then I have done a system update and it didn't fix the issue. I have a.kcrash file, and I can supply a mc log if needed. I'd appreciate any help cause I have no idea what the fix would be.
Here is a pastebin of a kwin crash from trying an older kernel version this morning: https://pastebin.com/ehmgTPMx
Might as well should include that I am on a Ryzen 5500 CPU, a Nvidia 1660 Super GPU, and on 32gb of DDR4-3200 CL16 ram.
Thanks to anyone who can help or know anything about this, please let me know if you need more information or clarity. Sorry if this is a bad first post sob
