Kernel panic after update

I've been on this install for a few months now and for some reason I've had a lot of boot issues this run even though I've been using arch for 15 years or so. Thought I had it all settled weeks and weeks ago. Today I updated with your standard sudo pacman -Syu and I get the new kernel panic bsod.

First of all ... Not really thrilled with the qr code interface but anyways I can't seem to drop to a shell to examine my fstab. The grub menu has some performance issue where pressing a key makes it type. Letter after only 3-4 seconds of delay. Sometimes tapping a single key causes it to type the same letter 3-6 times over the course of 30 seconds or so. That makes troubleshooting unbearable. I have no bootable media or other computer besides my phone

the root partition doesn't show up - no device does.
1. what kind of device holds the root partition (hdd, ssd, nvme, mmc, usb, …)?
2. can you boot the fallback image?

I have no bootable media or other computer besides my phone

Can you change that an get the install iso or sth. like grml on a usb key?
