[SOLVED] xf86-video-vmware 13.4.0-4 is no longer available

https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x8 … eo-vmware/

My X doesnt start after system update, Xorg will not use current driver, complains about incompatible shared library, there is no update in repository (there is no package at all in repository), AUR version doesnt work too.

ArchWiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/VMware … as_a_guest) says 'Install xf86-video-vmware' ...

EDIT:
modesetting and all works again.

Re: [SOLVED] xf86-video-vmware 13.4.0-4 is no longer available

I found temporary solution for me.

My problem is a direct result of this bug https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=305727

My mesa and xf86-video-vmware are locked on versions from topic above. Yesterday llvm-libs has beed updated and xf86-video-vmware depends on older version of it so all i had to do was dowgrade llvm-libs.

And why xf86-video-vmware is no longer available in repository, is there any substitute for it?

Re: [SOLVED] xf86-video-vmware 13.4.0-4 is no longer available

https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/ … -/issues/3

the driver is gone for good and won't work with an up-to-date mesa any more.
Locking mesa will break as it has hard dependencies on llvm and can't be a permanent solution.
Upstream recommends using modesetting or wayland.
