System randomly shuts down after pacman -Syu, persists even

Hi everyone,

I’m having a serious issue that started after I ran pacman -Syu. Right after the update, my system began randomly shutting down without warning. No pattern, no error message, just an immediate power-off

Here’s what I’ve tried: I thought something broke during the update, so I reinstalled my distro from a USB stick. But even during the live session from the USB, the system still randomly shuts down. So this is not just my installed but it also happens even with a clean live environment. The shutdowns started right after the update. Before that, the system was running fine.

Edit: it seems normal but I can only use for a few minutes after I boot

Hi, a complete power off at random sounds like a power supply issue that developed shortly after you updated.

Rather than it being a software fault, it's most likely a hardware fault which happened to coincide with an update.

Do you dual boot?
If so does it happen in Windows?

As a quick test, try a Debian based distro on live USB (as Debian has much older packages) to rule out a software issue completely.

If I were you though I'd be trying a different power supply if you have a spare handy.

Failing that remove everything attached to your motherboard (not the CPU), try booting with just the HDD and one memory stick installed, then swap the memory stick if it's still happening.

Basically check your hardware by process of elimination.

Unfortunately, I don't have another power supply, and actually, three of the RAM slots on my computer are broken, only one still works. I'll try to find a way to use Debian-Based distro since my computer broke and I'm on my phone

Thank you for your support, i just woke up and turn on the computer after i'm not use it a for a night then it start to work properly
