DaVinci Resolve 20 hanging on Startup

Hello Everyone:  Once again beating my head against the proverbial wall on vanilla Arch Linux running DaVinci Resolve Studio (version 20). I did have version 19 running a while back, but left Linux for about a year to get a college degree that required Windows and other icky software (namely Adobe).  Came back in March and decided to install DR Studio, which is at version 20.

It starts up and hangs at "loading Fairlight Engine" on the splash screen.  I am running vanilla Arch and hyprland at this time.

I checked the only logs that seem to exist and the output was as follows:

This appears to be a permission problem in the /opt/resolve directory.  This is owned by root.  To get the license to validate, you have to chown the /opt/resolve/.license directory to your user, so I suppose, the question is, do you have to basically give my user ownership of the entire /opt/resolve directory for resolve to run?  I appreciate any help on this.
Thank you in advance,
Michael

Don't chown the entire opt/resolve tree to user.
There is atleast one other directory ( /opt/resolve/Extras/ ) where the user running resolve requires write permissions , there may be more .

I suggest you ask Blackmagic what other folders a licensed DR Studio needs write permissions to so the wiki can be updated with that info.

Re: DaVinci Resolve 20 hanging on Startup

Rather than chown, I would add an ACL entry using setfacl for the user.

Re: DaVinci Resolve 20 hanging on Startup

Ok, the problem has not gone away.  I did manually create the Fairlight directory and made that directory under /opt/resolve/ owned by my user.  The unable to create errors have now gone away, still hangs on startup.  I am noticing one error now, something about unable to read VR path registry from /home/mneedham/.config/openvr/openvrpaths.vrpath.  I read someplace that it relies on Steam VR and while I do have Steam installed, I am not sure if the VR library is actually installed.  Likewise, I am pretty sure that the drivers are up-to-date, and all dependencies have been met...but how to determine if Steam VR is actually installed?  I am totally at a loss here.  Thanks again guys!

Okay, been working with the installation a bit.  Still hanging in the same spot, here is the output of the logfile, I don't see any issues, but it just won't get past the splash screen.

The termination was when I waited for over 2 minutes for it to load and then I killed it manually with kill -9.
I have no clue why this won't run.  I even switched back to KDE from hyprland, thinking that it might be something with the hyprland environment, since I had it running on KDE in the past.  Same exact problem.  I also have tried reinstalling the opencl-amd from the AUR and then totally re-installing Resolve.

Hope someone has run into this before.  Just for more info, I am including the output from my inxi, hope someone else has solved this.  Thanks in advance.

Re: DaVinci Resolve 20 hanging on Startup

Please post the outputs of

$ pacman -Qs opencl
$ pacman -Qs mesa
$ clinfo #comes with package clinfo

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

clean chroot building not flexible enough ?
Try clean chroot manager by graysky
