Arch Linux In LXC Container (Crostini)

Hi all,

I am posting to inquire more information regarding what is welcomed by the community for support.

I would like to ask if Arch Linux on an LXC container is supported by the Arch community on this forum? Specifically on Crostini within Chrome OS.

Thanks!

Re: Arch Linux In LXC Container (Crostini)

Hey ComputerPile,

After a quick Google search, I found the following Arch Linux wiki entry:

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Chrome … s/Crostini

I don’t own a Chromebook myself, so unfortunately I can’t judge how well it works.

Arch Linux is primarily designed to be installed natively on a system. However, it is of course possible to run Arch Linux successfully in various container or chroot environments.

best regards,

Re: Arch Linux In LXC Container (Crostini)

Hi metaphy,

Thank you for your response.

I had discovered that Arch Linux wiki entry as well, and followed it to install Arch Linux on a container in Chrome OS.

I can confirm everything works really well with the exception of serial devices. I don't seem to be able to access /dev/ttyUSB0 no matter what I try.

I always encounter a "Permission denied" error on apps like PuTTY or Termius.

This is what prompted me to make my post. To see if the community would provide support and assist with the Arch Linux via Crostini.

Regardless, I appreciate your response.

Thank you again,
