I've just installed acpid on my laptop and when I close the lid it shuts down. When I power on again the machine starts back up but the OS doesn't start again.
If I'm in X when the lid is closed the screen backlight comes back on when the power comes back on (as it does when I'm in X), if I'm on the command line the screen stays dark (again as it does when on the cli).
The laptop is a Samsung V20

Can anyone help?
If not, can anyone point me at any good ACPI tutorials that cover arch?

I assume correctly that the laptop tries to suspend (hibernate) after you shut the laptop?
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Sus … g_Suspend2
Just a guess, I have no experience really with hibernating; I cannot really find a use for it.

dninja,
maybe post the /var/log/acpid to see wich event is called when you close the lid!
That may help or setup suspend2 right!
Greetings
