So a couple of days ago there was the new release of DWM. So I want to make the transition, but since my dwm is patched, I really want to know if there is some way to just put the diff lines between my current version of DWM and the newer one, so I can do the update in the same code that I have. Do you recommend some tips to do that ? Or by any reasons is far more better to just patch the new version again starting all over again with the new release ?

I can tell you dwm-switchtotag-6.2.diff did not work for me... now I'm down to three patches. I'm happy using the fewest possible patches on dwm. dwm is all about simplicity & minimalism. I suspect I only really need one patch. The tilegap...and focusonnetactive are mostly eyecandy. systray is functional. But I could survive well enough without that too, I suppose.

I also have few patches in comparison to others, but I have 8 patches. So it's going to take me like an hour to patch everything again
. It's not too much but of course I need to put it in my agenda someday, it's not just go and pacman -Syu ![]()

You might find i3wm as light and perhaps faster than dwm given your wm preferences.

I knew it, but now since you said it again, It seems a very nice option if there is no maintenance time for making the upgrade. so for some system maybe is a good option for me. But the fact that I should spend some time in reading the documentation to learn the wm and setup everything as I already have, is going to take me more time than just patching again the new version of dwm, because my actual dwm ricing I had it well documented with all the patch ready for patching also. So maybe is not going to take me so much time, since in someway I now what to do very well. I just need to go and do it, but I don't have much time to do that, but I'm going to make it soon I guess.
But many thanks for your help ![]()

You are welcome. There are quite a few excellent wm managers some are easier to use than others. The best part about i3wm is they have magnificent documentation. It is different from dwm, But the path from i3wm to wayland (sway) may make the effort more valuable to you, assuming you want to use wayland some day.
