I installed Xfce4 basic on this box which has no vedio/graphic editing packages running. Just tried to install k3b and met with frustration. Steps performed as follows;

Pls advise how to fix the problem. Alternatively is there a reliable dvd burning package specifically for Xfce4. K3b is for KDE desktop. TIA
Edit:
# pacman -Q xfree86
Package "xfree86" was not found.
Do I need to install xfree86? Tks.

You can use the -f switch in pacman to force Mesa to overwrite those files. And XFree86 was replaced by X.org a long, long time ago.

Telling mesa to overwrite those headers might not be a very good idea, if you use a proprietary video driver (by nvidia or ati).
Did you install any third party video driver by hand ( that is- not from an Arch package )?

Yes, I'm running nVidia driver.
After installation of arch64 0.8 completed I created xorg.conf according to;
http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xorg
But I can't read the screen comfortable. Then I installed nVidia driver on nvidia.com site. Now I can read the screen without problem and with correct screen resolution.

Hi skottish,
Tks for your advice.

I considered it as well as renaming those files before but hestated to try them. Because I don't know whether they may cause problem to the OS.

I'm not sure how much of a risk you're willing to take, but you may try forcing Mesa to install, then re-install NVidia. Every time I build a new system, I have to install Mesa, then later force NVidia to install.

No problem to me if only reinstalling nVidia driver on its website. arch64 is not the 1st one requiring this step which I experimented before. slamd64 is the same. What I am only worrying is if the OS may also be affected. In such a case I have to spend some times to discover the cause.
I'll run;
# pacman -f k3b
later. Tks.
whether I need to install "k3b-i18n" additionally
# pacman -Ss k3b
extra/emovix 0.9.0-2
Create Movix-CD's (also emovix plugin for k3b)
extra/k3b 1.0rc6-1
Feature-rich and easy to handle CD burning application
extra/k3b-i18n 0.12.17-1
Localizations for k3b
OR it and emovix and will be pulled down automatically during installing k3b?
TIA
