FPS 10-20 Frames Lower Than Previous Installation
I installed every package I had previously and made no changes to the kernel
parameters (except for disabling watchdog), and yet fps seems to be capped consistently
to 91 in COD WAW (where it was 110-144, almost as if vsynced), and Skyrim is
running at 30 (where it used to run at 50-60). Honestly, only the Skyrim bit really
bothers me, because it's been a nightmare trying to make it work as best as possible.
The only conceivable difference would be that I installed gamemode, but it seems to have no
real effect: game runs just the same with or without it - and I made sure to test both games
on an entirely fresh prefix while the process "gamemoded" was dead. No signs of it running
during testing, either.
I mucked about with the experimental Intel XE graphics drivers, raising vm.max_map_count to 2147483642,
turning on/off ASPM (although I'm pretty sure I left that as default last time), clearing cache, and tried
with different Proton versions. Nothing seems to make a difference, unfortunately. Also just gave
x86_energy_perf_policy a whir to no avail.
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Next are some potentially useful outputs.
