An external USB mic is no longer detected by pulseaudio or arecord.
Other than general updates, I haven't made any audio related changes recently. Audio is otherwise working. Any troubleshooting pointers will be appreciated.

Not detected or not working (no sound/function) ? Have you checked alsamixer levels ?

Does not seem to be detected. It does not appear in arecord device list (see above), and does not show up at all in the inputs tab of alsamixer or pavucontrol, even though it does show up in the usb device list.
