I had all three drivers installed before (xf86-video-unichrome, xf86-video-via, openchrome), none of them worked correct. If I used blender for example the X server died so I deinstalled these drivers again and used blender in software render mode.
Ok but here is the output of lspci:
$ lspci -nn
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: VIA Technologies, Inc. S3 Unichrome Pro VGA Adapter [1106:3108] (rev 01)

If the 2D drivers work fine, you can simply disable DRI in the Xorg config and use the 2D drivers. They work much faster than the generic vesa driver.

So I just install openchrome and remove
Load "dri"
Load "glx"
these two lines from xorg.conf? Hmm I will try this out... I'm used to have no acceleration with this laptop for 2 years now...but it would be nicer to have it before my hardware dies...

I installed openchrome and removed DRI from xorg.conf... (not GLX, because otherwise blender is not working).
I don't think X is running faster, seems to be as "fast" as before. But the cursor is flickering when the CPU is used...
