[Solved] Incorrect resolution is displayed on XWayland applications

In certain applications an incorrect resolution is displayed, reflected by xrandr, however manually changing it through this does not work. The issue mainly results in incorrect UI sizes in apps such as AudioRelay, and games such as BeamNG and Satisfactory.

In Satisfactory and Beamng changing the resolution does not work, Beamng simply does not change the resolution (when clicking apply, the incorrect resolution returns) and in Satisfactory, the resolution seems to change correctly, however when switching to fullscreen the window only covers about a quarter of the screen.

I am using the Wayland compositor and Kwin window manager. I also have 2 virtual displays (one using an EDID and one forced through kernel parameters) for Sunshine and Steamlink.

Any help is appreciated.

You're already running the output at 2880x1620, this isn't a resolution issue.
Why are you trying to use a custom mode? There're various 100Hz modes (incl. FullHD ones) anyway?

I've forgotten to mention that my monitor is a 1080p one therefore, as the resolution is at 2880x1620 a lot of UI elements on X11 dependent programs are screwed up. Also in certain games such as Beamng, the games tries to render at 2880x1620, also screwing up UI elements and wasting GPU power.

Running the other xrandr command:

 xrandr --output HDMI-A-2 --mode 0x6a 

still nets the same BadMatch error. DP-1 is also a 1080p monitor scaled by 125% in settings and is a virtual monitor I created with an EDID file. HDMI-A-1 is also a virtual monitor (which I forced resolution via kernel parameters as adding another EDID file failed) I use for Sunshine streaming to my iPad, hence the 4:3 aspect ratio. HDMI-A-1 is scaled by 150%. HDMI-A-2 is my actual monitor. HDMI-A-1 is the only correct resolution. Also, just in case this is related, I have a second DP port although it doesn't show up.

Fyi, all the applications that use Wayland scale correctly (E.G. Firefox or terminal), so I think it is a X issue.

No, it's a problem w/ the xwayland implementation of your specific wayland compositor or in doubt you want to disable the xwayland scaling of your compositor and change the X11 DPI manually, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/HiDPI

Fist step: what wayland compositor are you actually using?
Second: please describe the problem you're facing (Xwayland applications too big, too small or too blurry) and edit your first post to adjust the subject accordingly

and again: forget about configuring any scaling/resolution via xrandr or other tools, you're looking at the wrong end of the problem and even if you could set eg. "xrandr --dpi 120" this would only be transient for the immediate xwayland instance and easily lost w/ the next xwayland client.

1) I am using Kwin window manager and Wayland compositor
2) In certain applications the UI is too small in applications such as AudioRelay and in games such as BeamNG or Satisfactory. In BeamNG the options report that I am running at 2880x1620 and yet changing the option to 1920x1080 does not work (as in when I press apply, the settings revert back to 2880x1620). Satisfactory allows me to apply the settings in Windowed Fullscreen, but changing to Fullscreen results in the window only covering about a quarter of the screen. KDE Settings reports that I am running my the display at 1080p as normal.
