Trouble Installing Arch on ASUS Vivobook (i7-12700H) – Archinstall Err

Hi all,

let me preface this by saying I have some experience with other Linux distros, but I’m new to Arch and thought it was finally time to give it a try.

I’m trying to install Arch on my ASUS Vivobook (X1505ZA, Intel i7-12700H, Iris Xe graphics, 16GB RAM), but I’m hitting issues with archinstall.
I’m trying to set up a dual-boot with Windows 11 (24H2) and Arch Linux, but I can’t get the installation to complete successfully. I could use some help figuring out what I’m doing wrong.

System setup:
    - ASUS Vivobook X1505ZA
    - Intel i7-12700H, Iris Xe graphics, 16GB RAM
    - Windows 11 24H2 already installed
    - Disk partitioned ~500GB for Windows, ~500GB for Arch

What I did:
    - Downloaded Arch ISO (2025.08.01) and flashed it to a USB using rufus.
    - Booted into the live environment (UEFI mode), connected to the network with iwctl.
    - Formatted partitions:
        - /dev/nvme0n1p6 → 1GB FAT32 EFI (mkfs.fat -F32 /dev/nvme0n1p6)
        - /dev/nvme0n1p7 → 500GB ext4 (mkfs.ext4 /dev/nvme0n1p7)
    - Mounted them as:
       - /dev/nvme0n1p6 → /boot
       - /dev/nvme0n1p7 → /
    - Went through archinstall:
        - set root password
        - created user
        - Set /dev/nvme0n1p6 as EFI (mounted at /boot)
        - Set /dev/nvme0n1p7 as root (/)
        - chose GRUB as bootloader
        - added nano + fastfetch
        - kernel / swap / hostname / mirrors were left at default
        - selected networkmanager for network configuration
-No profile/desktop enviroment yet — I just want to install arch first, if at all.

The install process starts but always errors out before finishing. Arch never successfully installs. The log shows things like:
Failed to check for package upgrades: archinstall
Could not determine the filesystem: None
you can see the log for yourself here: https://pastebin.com/DyNGahnC

I’ve tried some fixes I found online, but nothing has worked.
I’ve retried multiple times and keep hitting the same wall, if anyone has any advice on what to do, it would be very much appreciated
