[SOLVED]KDE nvidia wayland black screen after Syu

After deciding to update my system after 3 months  (kernel 6.14.9) and running into a few problems with conflicting files (notably, virt-manager .pyc files), I overwrited them since they were seemingly not being used by anything. During my attempt to troubleshoot the issue, I removed linux-firmware to also get rid of the Nvidia ad107 errors while still not being able to update. After fixing the issue with virt-manager and running an Syu, I reinstalled linux-firmware with pacman -S. However, upon restarting, while SDDM worked, upon trying to log in, I got a black screen with a cursor showing up occasionally. And I also noticed the option to start KDE with X11 was gone.

Try to get rid of your nvidia kernel params (the disablement of the firmware isn't going to work on nvidia-open anyway, but you actually want fbdev=1 to block the simpledrm device which is currently taking over -- the hack that made modeset=1 implicitly disable that got removed in current kernels) and both modeset=1 and fbdev=1 are technically defaults in the current nvidia-utils package.

Removing all grub options about nvidia seemed to work, thanks! Did an update essentially remove the need to blacklist nouveau when installing proprietary drivers or something? As for the x11 thing, I totally missed it

nvidia-utils has *always* blacklisted nouveau, you never needed to blacklist it manually.
