[SOLVED]Alternatives to GNOME/X11

For those of you who are using GNOME w X11 and are searching for an alternative desktop, which one would you consider? Bacground here.

As for me, after some research, I think I will opt for Cinnamon for these reasons:
- it is based on Gnome
- relatively high number of users, see here
- compared to Xfce (the third DE preferred by Arch-users), Cinnamon seems more modern

I must mention that I am only familiar with Gnome and Openbox but I would like to hear the opinion of other users forced to leave Gnome.

You can use GNOME Flashback. It uses core GNOME components, but still on X11.

I'm in that phase right now.
Can anyone who's tried Pantheon or Budgie DEs in ArchLinux give us their opinion?
Cinnamon is also an option, but I don't really like its MS Windows-like look.

IMO the best is to try it yourself. It doesn't take long to install any window manager/DE on arch and you can keep multiple installed. Might even be a good time to give a tiling WM a chance...

Re: [SOLVED]Alternatives to GNOME/X11

Thank you for all your replies.
What I did at the end was to build a desktop myself using Openbox.
Anyhow I did not use many of the Gnome components (like nautilus), so I decided to use a WM with the applications I really need.
