I'm using the selectdefaultapplication GUI, and it seems to have worked for most things. For example, my text files were opening in LibreOffice Writer by default, but it was pretty easy to set to xed with the GUI. Now, Mathematica notebooks (.nb) default to opening in xed instead of WolframNB. I tried going into selectdefaultapplication: under the application section, I see Wolfram 14.3. I selected all the file types there, and clicked "Set as default application for these file types," but nothing changed.
I found ~/.config/mimeapps.list, and I see a few entries for Wolfram at the bottom:
application/mathematica=com.wolfram.Wolfram.14.3.desktop
application/vnd.wolfram.nb=com.wolfram.Wolfram.14.3.desktop
application/vnd.wolfram.wl=com.wolfram.Wolfram.14.3.desktop
application/vnd.wolfram.mathematica.package=com.wolfram.Wolfram.14.3.desktop
application/vnd.wolfram.cdf=com.wolfram.Wolfram.14.3.desktopIs there something I can change here so .nb files open in Mathematica by default?
I should also note: in nnn, I can press "o" to go into the "open with" dialog. From there, I type "WolframNB," and it opens in Mathematica. It would be convenient if I didn't need this workaround, though.

Still not sure how to do this. It's not a huge priority by any means, but it would be nice.
Ardour is another program that's not opening its files by default. That is, when I navigate to a `.ardour` file in nnn and press the right arrow to open it, it sends it to Brave, which just re-downloads the file, effectively copying it to my Downloads folder.
