System suspends right after resuming from suspend

Hello,

Since a few weeks, my Dell Inspiron 3650 desktop goes back to suspend mode a minute or two after resuming from suspend without notice (it just interrupts me in the middle of my work to go back to sleep). It does that a few times (generally once, but sometimes twice or even 4 times) before stabilizing.

I have an Nvidia GeForce GT 730 GPU with the proprietary Nvidia 470 driver installed from the AUR (nvidia-470xx-dkms), which I suspect to be the culprit.

Here is a summary of my hardware configuration (inxi -b) :

Re: System suspends right after resuming from suspend

Also, I cannot start Xorg anymore, GDM forces Wayland and doesn't give me the option to switch to Xorg anymore. IDK if it is related.

Re: System suspends right after resuming from suspend

Ok, so I guess I just have to wait for a systemd update ?

Re: System suspends right after resuming from suspend

You first and foremost need to check whether it's systemd (dowgrande to 257-9, issue gone?) and it's not clear whether this will be deemed a systemd, gnome or nvidia problem.

Re: System suspends right after resuming from suspend

I have the exact same problem. I'm using gnome 49.0, systemd 258, I also changed the logind.conf to ignore, I noticed it happens every 30 seconds without any acpid event, I could not reproduce with the lid open. I'm using the lts kernel as test and did not see the problem.

I will do some more anecdotal testes with lts, and seeing if it supends again after waking up with the LTS.

Re: System suspends right after resuming from suspend

Rather test the behavior w/ systemd 257-9 - I wouldn't have much hope for the kernel to be overly relevant here.

Re: System suspends right after resuming from suspend

I can attest that the LTS kernel was useless.

Using tty had no issue.

Downgrading systemd solved until now (still in test)

I believe it's some race condition between gdm (or gnome-shell?) with systemd. I don't know.

See the link in #3 and the link in that post and the upstream  bug linked at the end of that thread
