alsa is set up but no sound with applicantion in gnome, help !!

i had configure alsa, but there is no sound in gnome, i use xine-ui to open my video-clip, there is only video but no audio, hwo to fix this problem???? help help help.

Did you add yourself to audio group?

yes, i did, but still, no sound when playing video.

i found my problem, actually is has sound with mp3, and mpg video file, but only no sound for RMVB, so how to solve it??
i had install the codecs... but still no sound...
