Everything was fine on GNOME 49.0 - I could switch layouts with Control+Shift.
But after updating to GNOME 49.1, all the hotkeys were changed. Now the layout switching shortcut is Super+Space, which works, but I really need Control+Shift.
I can’t change the key combination in Settings - nothing happens when I try to set it in the key combination dialog.
I’ve also tried changing the options via dconf at /org/gnome/desktop/wm/keybindings/switch-input-source
The current value is:
['<Super>space', 'XF86Keyboard']I’ve tried many combinations like:
['<Control><Shift>', 'XF86Keyboard']but no luck.
Any ideas on how to change the key combination?

A friend of mine and I have layout change mapped to caps lock via gnome tweaks.
gsettings get org.gnome.desktop.input-sources xkb-options
['grp:caps_toggle']It stopped working after 49.1 update. What's even more frustrating, pressing caps lock may hang GNOME completely (but ssh works and restarting display-manager gets system back alive).
In logs I can see this stuff, indefinitely:
...
Overwriting existing binding of keysym 1008ff15 with keysym 1008ff2c (keycode ae).
Overwriting existing binding of keysym 1008ff14 with keysym 1008ff31 (keycode ac).

As a quick fix you can configure keyd to remap keyboard layout switching.
Example config:
[ids]
*
[main]
capslock = macro(leftmeta+space)
[shift]
capslock = capslockEdited:
This config is much more stable for me:
[ids]
*
[main]
capslock = M-space
[shift]
capslock = capslockLast edited by pndhd (2025-11-06 13:09:07)
