nvidia-xrun: systemd-logind doesn't recognise the dock mode

Hello, I'm trying to understand a small issue I'm having with my laptop. I'm using it as the "docked" sense of systemd-logind, meaning its lid is closed but a display is connected.

On startup, the Plymouth boot screen, my window manager and the TTYs display correctly.

But when I want to play a game with the graphic card, as soon as nvidia-xrun really starts the Xorg session, my system immediately goes to sleep (and the system freezes on resume, but that's another issue).
I found that setting "HandleLidSwitchExternalPower=ignore" in "/etc/systemd/logind.conf" can be a work-around, but I would like to know if there is a better solution.
Perhaps the display output is reinitialised during the switch and there is nothing to do?
