Hi everyone...
I just wanted to show you a way how you could bring your wifi-card with an acx1** -chipset to work.
I got an oregon2000 PCMCIA-card off ebay.
I've just installed the following packages: tiacx tiacx-firmware
After installing the driver and the firmware iwlist was working, but nothing else (I couldn't set the WEP-key, the SSID and so on). I also got every 5 min a kernel panic.
But I've found a solution for this, so here is my solution:
Requierements: -Windows 2000 driver package for your card with an acx1**-chipset (I've only testet the win 2000 driver package, so it might also work with the xp drivers)
-you have to know how to use a text-editor
-at last you need to know how to build a pacman-package (just take a look at the wiki or search around the forum)
NOTE: the windows-driver package also contains the firmware
First download the driver for your card...
Then get the following PKGBUILD: http://cvs.archlinux.org/cgi-bin/viewcv … text/plain
Now you need to find the names of the firmware's binaries.
On my driver-CD it looks like this:
[XazZ@darklight Win2000]$ ls /mnt/cd/Driver/PCI\ CARD/Win2000/
RADIO0d.BIN RADIO11.BIN TIACXLN.CAT TIACXLN.INF TIACXLN.SYS WLANGEN.BIN
(directory names are *NOT* important)
I've compared these files with the ones from the tiacx-firmware-package
The .CAT, .INF and .SYS files are windows-speciefic so I just took the other 3 ones.
Then I've copied these files: RADIO0d.BIN RADIO11.BIN WLANGEN.BIN
After that I just had to modify the PKGBUILD to fit the filenames and the md5sums
(You can take a look at my PKGBUILD: http://phpfi.com/216839)
Finished...
Finding out all that stuff took me ~15 minutes
If there are any questions - just ask!
I hope I could help you and you like my little tutorial
