GRUB screen appears briefly while SDDM loads

This has been occurring for a long time. Whenever SDDM loads, or whenever I log out, or whenever I switch virtual terminals (not always), the GRUB screen appears for a short period of time, which shows the usual messages:

Loading Linux linux ...
Loading initial ramdisk ...

This is not (GRUB) theme specific - I have tested this with the default GRUB theme and it still happens.
However, I have also tested removing the splash argument and the GRUB screen does not appear anymore, so I suspect it is a problem with plymouth.
/etc/default/grub (default theme): https://0x0.st/K9si.txt
/boot/grub/grub.cfg (default theme): https://0x0.st/K9ss.txt

Re: GRUB screen appears briefly while SDDM loads

That has nothing to do w/ grub.

so I suspect it is a problem with plymouth.

Sort of.

You're seeing a framebuffer switch and what's there when it's not covered by plymouth.
The main "problem" would be

Whenever SDDM loads, or whenever I log out

https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Silent … _from_UEFI

The specific message is added by  /etc/grub.d/10_linux when running grub-mkconfig
