GPD MicroPC 2 Middle Click Oddity

So on the laptop most of the issues have been ironed out, however one I'm struggling with is middle click.

With libinput debug-events, left and right click when held down show the press event, and show release on release - as expected.
Middle mouse however only shows press and release event on release, rather than showing press when held which effectively makes middle mouse scrolling on KDE inoperable (and other things where holding middle mouse is necessary)

A quirk was added to the touchpad to enable the physical buttons to operate without holding touchpad by applying a quirk with AttrInputProp=-INPUT_PROP_BUTTONPAD
This doesn't seem to be overly relevant to the middle mouse issue that persists.

One thing to note is that the left and right click come under ALPS0001:00 36B6:C001 Touchpad.
The middle click seems to use ALPS0001:00 36B6:C001 Mouse

I've had a look online and can't really seem to find any mention of this type of problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Not sure what other information would be useful to provide currently.
I know ALPS touchpads are reportedly messy, however.

Thanks!
