Is this guy an actual Arch Linux developer/maintainer?

Hey everyone,

There is this youtuber called Abdullah Al-Omani and usually goes by the username "the.omania", He claims to be on a "contract" to join Arch Linux kernel developers/maintainers until next March/April. He seems kind of sketchy and when I checked the linux{,-lts} maintainers and developers list, his name doesn't show up and he doesn't seem to have any experience with ABS. Can an Arch Linux developer confirm if he actually legit or a scammer?

People do not get contracted to work on Arch.

You can see the list of official staff here:

There are some people not included in those lists, but those mostly take on moderation duties and the person you mentioned is not part of any of our groups to my knowlegde.
Where does this person voice those claims?

His content is mostly in Arabic but in this video : https://youtu.be/6fspup8f7As?si=E7CUb9vW3fv5Yv7R, he claims that Arch *still* uses C89 for major packages. I don't know if this is true or not but it seems made up or misleading.

He made the claim in this video: https://youtu.be/MJMaAT9rSj4?si=yqPAmyYrLby1FzRe. He said "I'm a System adminstrator, Network Engineer and a Kernel contributor as a part of RedHat's kernel development team. Arch linux contacted me *to improve* their kernel packages since *they don't adhere to regulatory bodies* [meaning something like GDPR requirements for Linux]"

The default C compiler is C23 since April.  Before that it was C17.

The person in question, Abdullah Al-Omani (the.omania), is not an official Arch Linux developer or maintainer. Arch does not contract developers, and his name does not appear on the official lists of developers or package maintainers. Claims about being contacted by Arch or contributing to their kernel are false. Official Arch sources confirm the default C compiler is C23, not C89, so his technical claims are also misleading.
