[Non-kernel Resolved] Bluetooth stopped working, again!

This issue first arrived earlier this year and was discussed here. But now it's back! I woke up this morning, with Linux 6.17.8-arch1-1 to find bluetooth no longer working after updating the kernel.

My device is a MediaTek 7925 (Wifi and Bluetooth combo, built into my motherboard).

Bluetooth fails with the error in dmesg:

Bluetooth: hci0: Execution of wmt command timed out
Bluetooth: hci0: Failed to send wmt func ctrl (-110)
Bluetooth: hci0: HCI Enhanced Setup Synchronous Connection command is advertised, but not supported.

I'm downgrading to LTS right now to temporarily mitigate this.

Edit: Linux-LTS 6.12.58-1 has the same issue! But now BOTH LTS and Stable don't even recognize any bluetooth device. dmesg now says nothing.

Resolution: Turns out to just be a motherboard issue. A full power cycle/hard reboot fixed it.

Does downgrading help?
What are the last 6.17 and 6.12 series versions which work?

If it doesn't help, you could try turning power off completely (unplug the cable and remove battery if a laptop) for a minute.

You should try 6.17.7 or 6.12.57 kernel. The patches are backported form stable kernel to lts kernels, if possible. In that case probably it was like that, but at which kernel versions? You have to check.

Don't cross-post.

While xerxes_ is right - at least https://github.com/gregkh/linux/commit/ … c046d94334 and https://github.com/gregkh/linux/commit/ … 8085a6bf34 have been backported into the LTS kernel.

I downgraded to 6.17.7-arch[1,2] and linux-firmware-mediatek. Neither fixed it.

And so then

Fully power down the device (remove the battery from a notebook and the power supply from a PC), wait a couple of minutes, return the power source and boot.
Device works again?

Don't cross-post…
