Slow boot with knockoff xbox dongle, works when plugging in booted

Hey!

I have an knockoff wireless dongle for xbox one controllers, it looks exactly like a genuine, but has a different firmware. I'm using the xone-dkms AUR package for drivers, I raised an issue with them briefly (https://github.com/dlundqvist/xone/issues/126), confirmed that I have a knockoff dongle, and for the time being, it looked using a different USB port would fix it, I did reboots, shutdowns, powercycles, sleeps, everything looked in order. Then a day later the issue resurfaced, it's present on every boot. Before that, I tried with the older xone-dkms, or even without any, it still shows the same symptoms, so it's probably a lower level issue.

This is how it looks like in dmesg

[ 6.624494] usb 5-2: device descriptor read/64, error -110
[ 22.496503] usb 5-2: device descriptor read/64, error -110

[ 55.152513] xhci_hcd 0000:0b:00.3: Timeout while waiting for setup device command
[ 55.360482] usb 5-2: device not accepting address 5, error -62
[ 55.472486] usb 5-2: new high-speed USB device number 6 using xhci_hcd

[ 66.416513] xhci_hcd 0000:0b:00.3: Timeout while waiting for setup device command
[ 66.624472] usb 5-2: device not accepting address 6, error -62
[ 66.624530] usb usb5-port2: unable to enumerate USB device

After boot, it doesn't show up in lsusb, simply plugging out and in again has it recognized. After which I can pair my controller and it works as expected. I've seen numerous similar reports online, mostly with bluetooth devices, and in most cases they were faulty. However, as far as I can tell the Dongle works just fine, except the boot shenanigans.
I am at a bit of a loss here. I'm not sure if it's possible to skip the device on boot and start it up later or something similar?
