Ever since updating to Gnome 49 (and forcibly being switched to Wayland), I've experienced an issue with Steam while running games.
While a game is running (though it varies depending on the game), the Steam window itself, along with the Friends window, will do a sort of "refresh", where it will reload itself, showing the loading spinner. While doing this, the window will pop up front and centre on the screen, taking control away from the game window.
With most games, this happens once, shortly after launching the game itself. It also seems to sometimes happen when a notification from steam occurs (e.g. when getting an achievement), though this isn't consistent.
It also appears to affect some games more than others. I was recently playing "Golf with your Friends", and each time a new level would load, the popup occurs.
I have tried a few things, such as turning off the steam overlay, and disabling notifications, but the issue persists.
If anyone has any suggestions of what I could try to remedy this, I would be most grateful.

Thanks, however this does not seem to be the same issue. My logs aren't showing any crashing or errors, and the steam window doesn't close or quit. It simply refreshes itself and pops up over the game window.

try the steam beta

Ok ok. This seems to be an improvement. Although switching to the beta alone didn't seem to fix it, I then also turned off the steam overlay, and that SEEMS to be correcting the issue.
