Has anyone gotten high-resolution scrolling to work on the MX Master 3S? There are multiple threads here and on Reddit about this, but no clear solution.
Some posts mention blacklisting kernel modules via the kernel command line, but those threads always peter out.
With Solaar, enabling "Scroll Wheel Resolution" makes scrolling ridiculously fast and unusable.
What I want is the same behavior as on macOS with Logitech Options + Smooth Scrolling enabled and the wheel in free-spin: high-resolution, system-wide smooth scrolling that moves pixel-by-pixel like a trackpad.
I'm using KDE, if that helps.

Ok, but what's the status quo?
Did you maybe filter out HiRes events?

What are the product and vendor IDs of your specific device?
sudo libinput list-devicesAnd does
sudo libinput debug-eventspick up the Hi-Res events when you scroll in free spinning mode?

Hey, thanks for responding. That gave me some ideas. Long story short: using Bluetooth resolves this (instead of using the Bolt Receiver). It seems Logitech sends some 'funky' inputs according to the article I mention below.
libinput debug-events showed wheel events as fixed increments (15/120), indicating standard wheel ticks, not fractional hi-res scrolls.
libinput list-devices confirmed the unifying receiver exposes only standard scroll methods (Scroll methods: button) and not high-resolution events.
This appears to be (at least if I understand correctly) an intentional limitation of the Logitech kernel driver for all USB-connected Logitech mice; it does not expose fractional scroll events for this mouse (source: https://www.phoronix.com/news/Linux-Dis … Scroll-USB).
Switching the MX Master 3S to Bluetooth mode exposed fractional scroll events (2.00/16.0, -2.00/-16.0), enabling hi-res scrolling.

Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.
You also could add that to the troubleshooting section of the linked wiki.
