During startup and before I boot into my DE (KDE) I get stuck in the systemd "check" screen.
After looking at the system logs, I think I understand. In my last system update, (I was more than a week behind) I opted to replace nvidia-dkms with nvidia-open-dkms.
I regret that I can't fit the entire logs, or post the entire output for that matter, in these pictures, but the resolution is all wrong due to the issues I'm facing with NVIDIA.
And no, I'm not using gentoo! That's just how I named my system.

So you didn't read the News, any Linux news sites which have covered this pretty well, the nvidia Arch Wiki page, nor the forum rules against posting massive images.

Aside from typing the output manually, posting images is about all I can do. I'll remove all but one since the issue has been pinpointed.
What have I missed?

Why did they replace the packages without taking 10 series users into account? I'll try installing the legacy drivers from the AUR and report back.

They did take them into account, that's what the news entry is for.

Do I remove all NVIDIA dependencies before installing? I'm not sure how to safely approach this.

Everything should be automatically replaced when installing the 580xx packages.

The nvidia-utils package couldn't be replaced (could not satisfy dependencies). I'm removing nvidia-utils, lib32-nvidia-utils, nvidia-settings, and steam, because there's no way to try again otherwise.

Did you switch the lib32 version at the same time?

I'm now back on my computer. Not sure how to get lib32 utils back (which is required for Steam) because it needs the latest utils package.

You use the lib32 580xx package from the AUR, same as you did the 64 bit versions.
