[Solved] How to increase partition?

I am struggling on resizing my partition because it somehow won't work, I am using dual-boot with windows and I recently shrinked it's partition size so I can increase my root partition, but it won't work

I tried to use parted cli to increase my partition

(parted): resizepart 6(my root partition) 100%

and then resize2fs /dev/sda6 but nothing happened after reboot

my partition layout is
sda1 windows efi
sda2 windows root
sda3 windows backup
sda4 windows garbage
sda5 arch boot partition
sda6 arch root partition

turns out my windows partition got corrupted and somehow did something bad

Re: [Solved] How to increase partition?

if you shrunk one of the windows partitions the arch boot is still in place - and partitions have to be continous
so in order to grow arch root to the left you first need to move arch boot to the left
or go the proper way: clear the partitions and start from scratch from aa blank drive (and maybe ditch wibdows altogether on the way)

Re: [Solved] How to increase partition?

If you insist on resizing the partitions, make sure to have backups and use https://gparted.org/livecd.php
Growing partitions to the left is a very popular way to shred ones files…
